Starting with a question about how the city can be traversed and made to resonate, Fabrizio Saìu responds by developing an experiment on the relationships of interference and connection between soundscaping and art du déplacement.

Intermission involves a collective action and a multitude in motion. This multitude consists of professional traceurs and participants who are introduced to the practice through workshop training. Percussion cymbals, dragged along the ground by ropes, serve as instruments. The organization of sound—arranged in bands and durations—intertwines with the movements of bodies in urban space, creating a drifting multitude. This interaction results in a temporary suspension of the city's functional life, encouraging both active engagement and contemplative reflection on reality.

Intermission unfolds in a dispersed and decentralized manner, organizing into small groups and occasionally involving individual traceurs who traverse and explore the city, marking both horizontal and vertical trajectories at varying speeds and intensities. The practice seeks to transform the acoustic environment, repurpose urban structures, and disrupt or modulate the flow of movement within the city and public spaces.

The action takes place in small groups of traceurs and participants trained in the practice. It is an intervention designed and executed based on the urban and acoustic characteristics of the city, targeting the diverse flows—human, animal, and mechanical—that traverse it.

The practice seeks to transform the acoustic environment, repurpose urban structures, and disrupt or modulate the city's movement flows. Intermission is not a performance or a spectacle; its form resembles a network that reshapes itself according to the choices made by individual groups.

It unfolds simultaneously across multiple locations, tending toward both condensation and stabilization in one place, while also dispersing along multiple trajectories or lines of flight.

Each Intermission is unique, shaped by the physical, psychological, and musical characteristics of its participants and groups. The practice adapts to the group's abilities, assuming a form and intensity of intervention that are distinct within each environment.
